The Princess in Black by Dean and Shannon Hale is a fun romp from start to finish. There is something so charming to kids about the idea of the precious Princess Magnolia also being the magnificent Princess in Black. I love that there is lots of action and slight suspense but with zero stakes so those little ones can just enjoy the drama without actually being terrified about anyone's safety. The illustrations in this book are delightful and it is a perfect book for early readers. I recommend this book and book club guide for ages 5-7.
